Hey BSU Family!
My name is Larine. I am a third year Black Studies and Political Science double major with an emphasis in American Politics. I am from Santa Rosa, CA but my family originates from Khartoum, Sudan.
I joined BSU because up until my second year of college, I never had the opportunity to be in an all-black space; especially one that’s purpose is to support it’s black students as they navigate through a PWI. I was hesitant to join at first, but I'm happy to say it was probably the best decision I’ve made in a while. Being able to surround yourself with like-minded black individuals as well as countless resources to help you succeed is a privilege I am so grateful to have.
I cannot wait to connect more with black students around campus, both incoming freshmen and transfers, as well as current students that I have not had the privilege of meeting yet. There are so many fresh faces I cannot wait to come across.
This year's Black Student Union has proved to be a powerhouse. We have managed to expand our reach significantly while at the same time maintaining a familiar feeling of family. I'm so excited for the year to come and to see the path that BSU forges for itself in the next few years.
